A car can drive on the road because of the rotation of its wheels,When the car is about to stop,What to do?The driver cannot put his feet on the ground to stop the car from moving forward like in the cartoon,At this time, you have to rely on the braking device on the car,To slow down and stop the car。

Brake: As the name suggests,It is a mechanical braking device that can slow down the vehicle,Also known as reducer。To put it simply: the car brake pedal is under the steering wheel,Press the brake pedal,Then the brake lever is pressed and transmitted to the brake pad on the brake drum to jam the brake disc,Slow down or stop the car。The manual brake of the car is next to the gearbox,Connected to brake lever。Bicycle brakes are also common,It relies on a rod brake fixed on the frame or a disc-mounted holding brake to decelerate。

Braking system hidden in the wheel,It is an important device that stops a moving car,The braking device generates friction between the brake pads and the wheel drum or disc,And in the process of friction, the kinetic energy of the car when driving is converted into heat energy and consumed。Common braking devices include "drum brakes" and "disc brakes",Their basic features are as follows:

Seabet

Install two semicircular brake pads inside the wheel hub,Use the "leverage principle" to push the brake pads so that the brake pads come into contact with the inner surface of the wheel drum to cause friction。

Drum brakes have been used in automobiles for nearly a century,But due to its reliability and strong braking power,Making drum brakes still installed on many models (mostly used on rear wheels)。Drum brake uses hydraulic pressure to push the brake pad installed in the brake drum outward,Cause friction between the brake pad and the inner surface of the brake drum that rotates with the wheel,And produce the effect of braking。

The inner surface of the drum brake is where the braking device generates braking torque。Under the condition of obtaining the same braking torque,The diameter of the brake drum of the drum brake device can be much smaller than the brake disc of the disc brake。Therefore, large vehicles with heavy seabet ioloads are used to obtain strong braking force,Drum brakes can only be installed in the limited space of the rim。

How drum brakes work

Simply put,Drum brakes use stationary brake pads inside the brake drum,To rub the brake drum that rotates with the wheel,A braking device that produces friction to reduce the wheel rotation speed。

While pressing the brake pedal,The force of your foot will cause the piston in the brake master cylinder to push the brake fluid forward and generate pressure in the oil circuit。Pressure is transmitted via the brake fluid to the brake wheel cylinder piston of each wheel,The piston of the brake cylinder then pushes the brake pad outward,Cause friction between the brake pad and the inner surface of the brake drum,And generate enough friction to reduce the wheel speed,To achieve the purpose of braking。

Advantages of drum brakes

1.With automatic braking function,Enables the brake system to use lower oil pressure,Or use a brake drum with a diameter much smaller than the brake disc。

2.The handbrake mechanism is easy to install。Some models have disc brakes on the rear wheels,A handbrake mechanism that installs a drum brake in the center of the brake disc。

3.The processing and composition of parts are relatively simple,And has a relatively low manufacturing cost。

Disadvantages of drum brakes:

1.The diameter of the drum brake drum will increase after being heated,As a result, the stroke of depressing the brake pedal is increased,It is easy for the braking response to be not as good as expected。So when driving a vehicle with drum brakes,Try to avoid thermal degradation of the brake pads due to high temperatures caused by continuous braking。

2.The brake system responds slowly,The braking force is difficult to control,Not conducive to high-frequency braking actions。

3.Many parts with complex structure,The brake clearance needs to be adjusted,Making maintenance difficult。

Due to the rapid increase in vehicle performance and driving speed,To increase the braking stability of the vehicle when driving at high speed,Disc brakes have become the mainstream of current braking systems。Because the disc brake disc is exposed to the air,Enables disc brakes to have excellent heat dissipation,When the vehicle brakes suddenly at high speed or brakes multiple times in a short period of time,Brake performance is less susceptible to seabet iodegradation,Can give the vehicle better braking effect,To improve vehicle safety。

And because of the fast response of disc brakes,Ability to perform high-frequency braking actions,Therefore, many car models use disc brakes, ABS systems and VSC、TCS and other system configuration,To meet the needs of such systems that need to act quickly。

2. Disc brake:

Use the brake caliper to control the two brake pads to clamp the brake disc on the wheel。When the brake pad clamps the disc,There will be friction between the two。

The brake discs used in high-performance sports cars are mostly perforated and ventilated discs,Has better cooling effect

Cold air passes through the wheels to cool the brake discs

How disc brakes work: As the name suggests,Disc brake with stationary brake disc,Clamp the brake disc that rotates with the tire to create friction,A braking device that reduces the wheel rotation speed。

When the brake pedal is pressed,The piston in the brake master cylinder will be pushed,And build up pressure in the brake oil circuit。The pressure is transmitted through the brake fluid to the piston of the brake cylinder on the brake caliper,The piston of the brake cylinder is under pressure, will move outward and push the brake pads to clamp the brake disc,Causing friction between the brake pads and the brake disc,To reduce wheel speed,So that the car can slow down or stop。

Advantages of disc brakes:

1.Disc brakes have better heat dissipation than drum brakes,It is less likely to cause brake fading and brake failure when the brakes are continuously applied。

2.The change in size of the brake disc after being heated does not increase the stroke of the brake pedal。

3.Disc brake system responds quickly,Can perform high-frequency braking actions,Therefore it is more in line with the needs of the ABS system。

4.Disc brakes do not have the automatic braking function of drum brakes,So the braking force of the left and right wheels is relatively average。

5.Because the brake disc has better drainage,Can reduce brake failure caused by water or mud。

6.Compared with drum brakes,The structure of disc brake is simple,And easy to repair。

Disadvantages of disc brakes:

1.Because there is no automatic braking function of drum brakes,Makes the braking force of disc brakes lower than that of drum brakes。

2.The friction area between the brake pads and the brake disc of disc brakes is smaller than that of seabet logindrum brakes,The braking force is also smaller。

3.To improve the shortcomings of the above disc brakes,So it requires greater pedaling force or hydraulic pressure。So a brake disc with a larger diameter must be used,Or increase the oil pressure of the brake system,To increase braking power。

4. The handbrake device is not easy to install,Some models that use disc brakes on the rear wheels are equipped with a set of drum brake handbrake mechanisms。

5.The brake pads are greatly worn,Replacement frequency may be higher。
